Looking to Adopt a Pet?

Feel free to browse for pets on the Find a Pet page of the website. If you find a dog or cat you’d like to adopt, please contact the organization caring for the animal. You can find this information either on the pet’s posting or on our website on the Participants & Locations page.

Please keep in mind each organization has their own adoption policies and procedures. It is best to contact the organizations directly to determine what information you’ll need to provide to adopt a pet.

We can’t wait to see you during Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days!

Selection of Special Pets

Bug, at Maine Coon Adoptions, is short for Love Bug. He was found in a yard in Hayward and is between one- and two-years old. He got his name because he is so full of love! He loves people, gets along great with other cats and loves to play. You’d never know it by the way he runs around, but Bug is completely blind, having been born with microphthalmia which literally means “small eyes.”

Maine Coon Adoptions took Bug into foster care, and when they brought him to their vet, they learned that Bug’s eyeballs were likely to shrink as he got older and that cancerous tumors could develop. The vet recommended the removal of his eyes. Bug was then taken to an eye specialist who confirmed this likely prognosis and also recommended complete removal of both eyes. Not wanting to risk the likely spread of the tumors, Maine Coon Adoptions operated on Bug the first week in May.

Bug is doing great now. He’s back to playing, running around and living up to his name. He learns his way around a new environment quickly, and once he does, you’d never know he’s blind! His stitches will be out well before that special someone falls in love with him during Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days on June 1st and 2nd and takes him to his forever home.
